Unfortunately I can't recall which ones I had owned, though TP-Link was very hit and miss for me. If I recall correctly my parents had those Nano ones and they really weren't great either.
Did some looking around and pretty much every one I looked at had reliability issues, the few that had decent reviews had like 2 reviews.. which isn't really a good sample size.

That's a shame... I guess I'll have to buy an internal one for my laptop, too, then. Thanks.

Though strangely enough I can't seem to find a store with the HG10 N980 bracket, which is required to cool the graphics cards, there is a variant made by another company but frankly speaking I don't like it.
Also, I picked an aircooler for the CPU because of die size difference between a CPU and GPU, the GPU would respond considerably better than a CPU would when subjected to liquid cooling. Whereas a simple aircooler will give you both desirable temperatures and noise levels for a low price for a CPU.

Thermal paste is provided with the Hyper 212 Evo, so that isn't necessary.

at a local store they have a laptop for $490 an i5-4200u 1.6ghz up to 2.6ghz processor, 6gb ram, 1000gb hard drive but the graphics card is an intel hd graphics 4400 which i've heard is horrible. Would this setup be decent?

For one bot it would be fine, but for any degree of gaming, you might as well just not try
Intel HD Graphics can barely run League of Legends, and League is not a demanding game in the slightest.

Nah, it doesn't natively contain a graphics card, so the chances are it won't have any support for them.
Plus it would likely need a revamped power supply to support the extra power consumption of a graphics card.

Dang, how will that setup you told me fair against rs3/cs:go/possibly ark survival?

RS3/CS:GO should be no problem at all, whereas Ark Survival should be fine.
When I had seen it, it ran terribly on even a overkill system due to poor support, but for all I know it could be better.

Any reason why you chose a locked cpu, and a mobo that supports overclocking? Also, he will need more than 8GB of ram to run 10+ rs3 bots. just saying.
And while I'm at at, have a free bump, Can't wait to build my x99 rig soon

Locked because I severely doubt he'll overclock, not to mention the budget wouldn't necessarily accommodate a capable CPU cooler without reducing performance elsewhere by changing parts.
While the board supports overclocking it's not mandatory and will last longer due to a better power delivery as opposed to a H97.

Yeah I recently was informed of RS3 RAM usage, not to mention the overhead of a bot client.

Also, a hyper 212 evo is very capable of cooling the 4690k, it's the cpu and cooler that I have, and I have my 4690k OC'd to 4.6 Ghz and my temps are around 60* C with a few bots, chrome tabs, and a random game open in the background.
