Thanks for the build! I was wondering about the storage, should I eventually get myself a 1tb hard drive? Since theirs only a 120gb ssd for storage in the buildhttp://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/phDRxr
Strangely enough Nvidia and Intel are extremely expensive in Canada, to the point that a GTX 760 costs the same as a R9 290...
I'll get the ball rolling, but I believe I have a unique situation. I love buying premium hardware to meat up my rig, but I do not like spending money. That is why I typically don't budget myself, but rather try to achieve the highest power/dollar ratio while staying on the high end. So as you can probably assume I prefer AMD over Intel and nVidia, don't necessarily care about RAM brands, etc. It also means I haven't updated anything in my rig for years now, so it's time for a total overhaul. I use my main rig for application development, amateur video editing, mild gaming (but always on high gfx), and such.
Budget: N/A
Intended use: Multiple power-user uses (need well-rounded beast)

Please and thank you.
Ahh apologies, I had actually put a 1TB WD Blue drive in, but then noticed I hadn't switched from USD to CAD.Thanks for the build! I was wondering about the storage, should I eventually get myself a 1tb hard drive? Since theirs only a 120gb ssd for storage in the build
Then i would advice you to look in the second hand market you wont find many new parts for that price. where are you fromBudget: (under 100 pounds (if possible))
Intended use: I just want to learn how to build a computer myself really, low specs are fine. I will be using it for programming, scripting, etc. I won't be playing any games on here. It will be purely used for programming only, just want to get the feel on how to build assemble/disassemble a computer.

you should really start looking for second hand parts then the cheapest ram you can find will be about 15€/stick and a cpu starts a 60€ thats pretty much your budget and then u still would need a mobo, hdd, gpu, psu... if you could rais it till 300€ it would be better
wow this stuff so expensive, literally thought I could build a simple computer for under a 100 pounds after buying a raspberry pi for 25 pounds lolyou should really start looking for second hand parts then the cheapest ram you can find will be about 15€/stick and a cpu starts a 60€ thats pretty much your budget and then u still would need a mobo, hdd, gpu, psu... if you could rais it till 300€ it would be better
yeah if I got an alienware I'd strictly used it for 10/10 games wouldn't use it for botting at allall this stuff just for botting and heres me still going strong on my old windows xp from 2007 with 2gb ram lol
does me i get done whats needed, also have a alianware desktop but dont clog it up
Really nice sites i like the option that it also work in Belgium hahaLogicalincrements.com is a nice site to look at for general gaming desktop part selection to match your budget.
Notebookcheck.net is the most detailed and technical place for laptop reviews/comparisons and mobile CPUs.
The two resources I use most often
Yeah iirc the cheapest a botting rig can be made for is ~£300, and that's mid-range ish build.wow this stuff so expensive, literally thought I could build a simple computer for under a 100 pounds after buying a raspberry pi for 25 pounds lol
I'll put my PC on hold then; I'm using an iMac so I'll just wait and save up 1000 pounds+ until I can make a decent one, if you think it would be a waste to spend 150 on a pc if i was my goal was just to learn how to build a systemYeah iirc the cheapest a botting rig can be made for is ~£300, and that's mid-range ish build.

That's the cheapest for new parts, and to be quite honest, I really can't recommend spending £150 on bad parts in order to learn how to build a system. Instead I would recommend saving up for a PC upgrade and learning from there.
