Resolved What's difference between RuneMate and TRiBot?

Good evening. I'm wondering and thinking about a couple of things. I hope that any of you can provide the answers.

I'm wondering what's the main difference between i.e. RuneMate and TRiBot? I bought TRiBot earlier, created an account on my own PC. It seems that it worked up fine and there were many flawless bots. I moved TRiBot to the server and started using it with a break handler it seems that I got banned after one day of botting. I botted only daytime and pretty much when I was at the computer myself monitoring it. Bot kept pretty good breaks and slept the entire night.

I kinda feel that the ban has something to do with ISP like detecting it as a service provider (IaaS). Not a botting related SaaS/PaaS from any individual. I do not buy individual services from players.

So do they check out the ISP?

After I got banned I created a new account and I downloaded RuneMate and give it a try (at Home this time) and after one day, I haven't been banned yet. RuneMate doesn't even seem to use anti-ban methods as a native method? I've been cutting the damn Oak and the camera isn't even moving or the mouse is not hovering over the objects and reaction time is pretty fast but I'm still there. At least they say that new accounts get a ban.

At least I see that RuneMate uses the original client when botting when other bots use their own client. The only one negative I can find is these "Free" bots that are pretty much all partially broken. Storing items into the bank doesn't just simply work or spam clicking the objects makes me feel dumb that the scriptwriter has been drunk or bot has changed significantly that the older methods used don't work as expected. I'm currently trying the bot. If I feel that it's working fine for me I'm going to support scriptwriters and use premium bots and buy the membership of RuneMate. No doubt about that. I also might contribute Free bots by creating some if I'm not banned soon in OSRS.

In short:
  • What's the predominant feature of RuneMate compared to other bot clients if we exclude on-demand payments for bots?
  • Does J flag/catch you by ISP such as service providers (IaaS)?
  • Why there are so many broken Free bots that work partially? Did bot change significantly or what makes them not work if they were working just fine earlier? (At least what I read comments about them people are commenting about 100% working bot)
  • Does RuneMate include native anti-ban features or should you implement them yourself in script? (So are they necessary, because the current Free bot I'm trying RuneMate with doesn't even move the camera at all. I'm still here)

On runemate, antiban methods are commonly seen as a farce. Stuff like prehovering everything, "randomly" hovering skills, moving the camera a bunch are all things that only bots do consistently. If I'm just clicking between a couple trees while playing legit, I'm not going to be moving the camera and hovering random stuff. I'm going to be watching youtube and barely paying attention.

Runemate has a lot of randomness built into the client itself, like mouse movement, using keyboard vs mouse for things like opening inventory etc. There's just a lot going on in the backend.

Detectable clients probably play a big part too. I used to use other bots and I'd get banned in a day, whereas for runemate I only get banned when I bot like crazy or it gets stuck.

There's a lot of broken bots because the runemate admins don't remove broken bots often. Also features of the runemate client tend to break sometimes and not get fixed. There's ways to work around them, but it means old bots stay broken. So for example, web pathing on runemate has been broken for ages, so any bot that relies on them is partially broken. Something like my mining bot that paths far distances required a lot of work on my side making my own pathing system.

I'd love to see more outdated/broken bots removed, honestly. They saturate the bot store and make the site look like crap. If you come across a clearly broken bot where the author is inactive, I'd post here: Tutorial - Report Outdated Bots & Inactive Bot Authors Here

Not sure how often that thread is checked, but at least it'll be documented.

Hey, thank you very much for your kind reply. I appreciate it a lot! I test the bot for a couple of days and let's see what happens.

We have an automated system that heuristically detects broken bots and deletes them daily. If it's still on the store that means there's a set of people who have gotten some value in the recent past. Unfortunately, it can't catch bots where some features work and others don't. Doing that would require a human in the loop to make a judgement call. I personally lean towards not deleting something that at least one person is able to enjoy.

The Bot Store is also sorted by usage so (mostly) broken bots should sink to the bottom naturally.

Fair, and I agree that sorting by usage mostly solves the problem. The only caveat here is I think users still tend to gravitate towards old bots (with thousands of "users" acquired over many years) vs new bots with low user counts because they were just created for the current game. Of course this can't really be helped, moreso just a side effect I've noticed with user number displayed being "total users" instead of "active users".

I guess the main point I was trying to make was when there's something like QuickMiner PRO, where it's 8 cents per hour, marketed as an AIO and meanwhile all it's able to do is powermine because it relied on the web, it makes the bots on the store feel unreliable. Before I added my miner a few weeks ago, QuickMiner was one of the top 15 bots & was a featured bot (and still is featured, second on the rotation) despite being mostly broken. And I've heard reports of a number of bots on the store in similar situations. I get the feeling that some bots keep a "heartbeat" by users trying it and hoping it works and keep from being deleted.

Although to be fair, the fact that my new miner surpassed QuickMiner is kind of evidence that you are correct and the current system works fine, "survival of the fittest" is in play.

I guess I agree that leaving partially working bots up on the store makes the most sense from an admin & user point of view (it's better than having a hole in the catalog), but from an active & willing bot author point of view it makes the store feel super muddled. Feels strange re-creating something that partially works and trying to compete with a very "established" bot. And when people request I make something like a motherlode mine bot because (I'm told) "none of the current ones work", meanwhile there's 3 premium ones released already, it feels weird.

I suppose it was also partially unfair of me to phrase it as "admins don't remove broken bots often", it's more of a "there isn't a super strict level of working to warrant keeping a bot up". Just a difference of philosophy, really.
