For Runescape 3 you use the legacy client.

For OSRS you use the official Jagex client.

Not Swiftkit. Not OSBuddy. Official Jagex client.
Yeah I just downloaded both in case. One from old school homepage and one from the rs3 homepage aka legacy.

I'm going to test this now and see if I'm running it without the error.

The RS3 legacy client will not load old school Runescape.

To run old school Runescape you must have the old school client installed from: Old School RuneScape - Play Old School RS

Yes I got it :)

Allright, I've moved the jagexcache folder which comes with the old school client installation. It creates in A:, my second driver as default. it's where I get the error. But if I moved the jagexcache to C:username, I don't get the error but I have to open the client manually and the instance doesn't start, it does nothing. You click start instance and it loads for second then stops like nothing happened. But atleast no error.
Now I have no idea what to do exactly.

When i start the old school client, new jagexcache folder creates in A: path again.

You should be able to specify during the installation where you want the OSRS client to install.

Rather than install it and then move, try to install it in the right drive from the beginning.

Only way to do that is to uninstall the client and reinstall it - choosing the right installation path on the right drive.

That's where the problem lies, because you can't choose where to install. ^^

Interesting. I wrongly assumed you could. Just test installed the OSRS client from my end and you're right - it doesn't let you choose where to install the client.

I came across this on Google for another of Jagex's games. I've modified the steps to apply to the OSRS client. Try this:

Installer Problem - Forum - Chronicle: RuneScape Legends

1 - In Windows Explorer, find the folder where the downloaded OldSchool.msi is stored. Hold Shift and right-click OldSchool.msi, then select "Copy as path".

2 - Next, open the Start menu, click "All Programs" then "Accessories" and right-click on the Command Prompt. Click "Run as administrator".

3 - Type "msiexec /i " (without the quotes, but with the extra space at the end). It should now look something like:
msiexec /i "C:\Users\username\Downloads\OldSchool.msi"

4 - Right-click anywhere in the command prompt window and select "Paste".

5 - Hit Enter.

Yeah so somehow we have to change something on RuneMate clients' side to be able to run the path old school client folder lies in.
Or another way, which is to find a way to change the path of old school client's path.
I have no clue how to, either of them so I suppose I can't even use the client/bot at all as I see now.

@Snedtripp I've had the exact same problem happen to me. I too uninstalled all java's and ran through all troubleshooting steps (that i found and even the ones you listed, and other people on this thread) and couldn't get it to work. I just gave up on trying to solve this until yesterday.

I just went ahead and decided to run RuneMate on a Virtual Machine. Sure the downside is it's using more of my resources including CPU and RAM, but its a price I have to pay for botting.

Once the likes of @Cloud or @Arbiter see this thread, they will be able to offer you some expert assistance to hopefully get this resolved.

As others have said, they are very busy dealing with a big update on the client, so it may take some time, although I'm sure they will get back to you as soon as they can.

Yeah I just tried a force installdir on CMD. I forced it to install to a folder in C: and when it installed, still installed to A:, what is this shit Jagex is doing. Forcing one to install shit on second drive.. Jeez..

I have no clue what to do now, there is nothing to do when CMD can't force it to install somewhere. :/

What do you use your drives for?

Which drive is your OS installed on? What is on the other drive.

I'm just curious why it is picking one over the other.

A: is for shit, like stuffs I download on internet puts there, movies, pics yea you know. Since I have SSD as primary, so I can't have movies etc on it which take place from it's memory. OS, games programs etc are installed on C:.
Well it's a good question. Pretty weird, I just tried another command on CMD, didn't work either.

Update: I also tried to install RuneMate on A: instead , same folder as old school client. Didn't work. Got same error;

Failed to bind to the game client because of a AgentInitializationException
com.sun.tools.attach.AgentInitializationException: Agent JAR loaded but agent failed to initialize
at sun.tools.attach.HotSpotVirtualMachine.loadAgent(wz:173)
at nul.IiIiiIiIIIii.super(rmb:58)
at nul.IIIiIIiiIiIi.run(llb:35)

This is starting to get very interesting as it's so complicated to run a client.

It's worth it...

Sure it is, running on a VM instead for now. Waiting for a mate to reply, he knows a lot about windows so I'll hope he can show me a way to force install the runescape client to C:, not A:. ^^
What I described isn't that hard, but I can post instructions if it sounds that way.
  • Move the jagexcache directory to the new drive
  • Run the following command at an administrative command prompt, changing the last parameter as appropriate
    mklink /d "%USERPROFILE%\jagexcache" "H:\jagexcache"
That's it, you're ready to run the game.

"%USERPROFILE% = C:\Users\myname?
Else, explain just a little bit, please :)
