/Begone u filthy beast, back to the darkness where you came from.
Bot bounty hunterI'm talking about crowd-funding public bots. Authors would be more inclined to put time into something that they'll be rewarded for.
What would happen if the authors were to quit updating em?I'm talking about crowd-funding public bots. Authors would be more inclined to put time into something that they'll be rewarded for.

I assume the funds would be given incrementally? They would be made available for other authors to continue working on.

One person makes a bot request with features, and others can support that by putting money in it, or can suggest adjustments-Who decides on features/specification?
One request gets created and users can invest money in it until someone decides to make that bot. And users can charge back their money if the bot hasnt been made/started yet-Who decides the price, is it community driven or do authors compete for the project?
I'd say once a bot author starts a requested bot, the status gets set to "in progress". during that stage the users cant charge back their money. once completed, the bot writer gets the money. If the writer decides to cancel the bot, or he doesnt progress frequently enough, the request will be opened again and users can charge back their money, and other authors can take over the request.-How is the author to be paid (upfront/in pieces/on completion)?
Yeah, I agree 100%The issue with these things is the planning:
-Who sets up the GoFundMe (or similar)?
-Who decides on features/specification?
-Who decides the price, is it community driven or do authors compete for the project?
-How is the author to be paid (upfront/in pieces/on completion)?
-Who decides if the bot meets the specification in order to be paid out?
-Is this even a thing which should be open for all bot authors?
Yeah the amount of effort to create such a system and maintain it is probably not worth itThe flip-side is that this would likely be an incredibly rare thing, and only ever happen with particularly large projects (slayer/dungeoneering) where the expected outcome is for it to be premium anyway.
My argument really is that it's good in theory but actually really tricky to get right.
