Tested myself for about 25mins (starting at 9 rc) and managed to hold a constant 17k+ exp/hr

You could craft regular fire runes for next to no gp spent and the XP/HR would probably still triple this method.

Talismans cost quite a lot, earth talisman is 219gp each right now. That adds up

I've updated the OP, would it still be not worth doing if using the dangerous path and running to and from?
