I was so sad to find out my account was hacked yesterday... immedietly I blamed Runemate... because Runemate is the only thing I've downloaded and used. I was so disappointed, frustrated, and nervous that my computer had been keylogged, but I was wrong. And honestly, I thought to myself, even if it was Runemate, I've gotten so many levels that it makes 20-30 mill look like nothing.

So I was running Runemate, like I always do to dodge the endless grind that is OSRS.. next thing you know, I was DDoSed, and by that I mean my internet froze, I reset it, it still didn't work, so I reset it again, and I was able to log into my OSRS through Runemate only to find myself in Lumbridge. Funny thing is, they left my Brine sabre... at least they left me with my sword haha.. maybe I just logged back on to quickly though so they didn't have enough time to clean my bank. The sad part is, I've only ever purchased training equipment.. and it was my bank. My Robin, ranger tunic, archer ring, warrior ring, etc, were gone. I know that most people are rich in the game but to me that's an endless grind to recover... anyways back to how it happened.

So I blamed Runemate but I was wrong to do so. Basically 2 minutes before I was DDoSed I logged into Twitch and browsed OSRS streamers. Two strange streams were going. One said B0aty was quitting OSRS forever and I watched that for a bit, and then went to the other which had the Jagex Development Team talking around a table and the title said something like, "Double XP for 72 hours".. it also had a link in the description, and the comment section was closed to everyone but Subscribers, but the stream itself had no subscription button.

Keep in mind, both of these streams had over 2k viewers. I'm ruling out the B0aty stream. Where I messed up was, I clicked the click the link that said "Double XP for 72 hours" in the description box of the Dev Team stream.. it took me to what looked like the identical to RS website and immedietly asked me to enter my bank pin to sign up. I did it. The most idiotic thing I could do. I entered my bank pin (which I don't even have on the account).. and my memory is jumbled, but I believe I also attempted to log in.. and that's why I'm an idiot.. but hey I'm going to download Runemate again and let it get back to the endless grind for me.

So fair warning, this is real. They are doing this to our accounts. I'm sure I'm not the only one that fell for it, as it was the 3rd or 4th stream at the top of the page with over 2000 viewers. Be careful when you are watching twitch.

At least you have the guts to admit where you went wrong. Most people will blame RuneMate and refuse to accept responsibility for their own stupidity.

Them scams have been around in RuneScape since 2004ish and still, people like you never learn. If it's too good to be true, it probably is. At least now you know it was a scam, so don't fall for it again.

Peace

literally just got hacked rn, luckily i'm a noob and they didn't take anything. I don't usually fall for scams but this one was pretty clever, you can't type in chat because it's follower only for 2 hours and i just thought it was a mistake as the person in the stream was talking about how no-one got the twitch live notification and yh so i went on the dodgy link and they got my bank pin and 2 step verification code then ddos'd be offline whilst they went to lumbridge bank and could have yoinked my shit
