Ok so I was botting Woodcutting for almost a week reaching 73 . No ban, even though ocassionally some players commented stuff like "annoying bots". Then today i upgraded to member and botted thieving a bit and after 5 minute i got banned.

How could this be? Is WC bot safe but Thieving and member skills unsafe?

some reasons:

1. u got unlucky.
2. thieving bots look like AHK and AHK is banned (not sure)
3. u got unlucky.
4. delayed ban for the woodcutting

I am pretty sure you got banned because of woodcutting as @Bubble and others said.

woodcutting f2p is just begging for a ban

Woodcutting is abused by new goldfarmers who try to make most of the game without investing.

Sometimes they get away with it but sooner or later they choose another way and decide that high reqs are better.

I usually only get combat up in f2p. Any competitive skill is too crowded to bother. But I could see the justification of getting the low levels out of the way there I guess.

You don't always get caught just by using the "wrong" bot.

Your behavior matters a lot.

To avoid ban train many skills, do quests, do minigames...
You want to look like a legit player. If all you want to do is bot, then smallest thing you need to do atleast is to change the subject, change the skill that you bot frequently.

Also, your character's appearance matters a lot. If you have non-easy optainable items like fire cape, fighter torso or other untradeable items it will make your account more legit.
