No, we do not make any amount of money worth mentioning. I'd say in the last four years of operation we average to break even. However, there are many months where we had to pay out of pocket just to keep the lights on for RuneMate. This is a product of our passion for the work we do. The only payment I need is seeing the usage stats tell me that every day RuneMate operates we put almost two years back into the world.

Not sure this is the appropriate venue for this sort of question, but I'll entertain it nonetheless. RuneMate is the best RuneScape botting application on the market (objectively) and the best computer science education tool ever created (in my opinion). We will continue to be both those things indefinitely. Any and all things necessary to keep excelling at the things we do will be done. While I can't discuss specific features here, there are plenty of exciting things in the pipeline.

No, and we wouldn't want to. neXus/iBot was a fine product for its day and age, but by today's standards it's a subpar application that would likely get you banned the moment you logged in. If you're speaking more generally about the golden age of botting that began with neXus and ended with RSBuddy, then my answer would still be no. RuneScape isn't the game it used to be and neither are the numerous scenes involving it, ourselves included.

We didn't come up with the idea of RuneMate per se. I have done this many times before (powerbot, ArbiBots, RSBuddy), so in that sense RuneMate is just the natural evolution from all those products. However, many things we've done here have been groundbreaking work, including but not limited to Spectre, Clouse, and PlayerSense. Cloud and I have probably spent over 10k man hours on RuneMate.

Depends on what it was and my availability at the time. I don't believe that freelance private bot authoring (and just freelancing in general) is a good way to generate product. Code rot will inevitably set, and freelancing doesn't have a repair mechanism in the form of continued support. I much prefer offering managed services involving a SaaS or subscription business model.

I've been analyzing RuneScape and creating macros since the fall of RSBuddy. Prior to that I did have knowledge of the general structure of the game engine from analyzing the botting clients of the past.

I accidentally crossed paths with @Arbiter after a long time and along with @Static, we developed the initial version of RuneMate. @Static has come and gone several times but it was due to them that I was interested in being co-author of the RuneMate client. I had much of the foundation already completed and it was interesting to combine our works.

I would say that although RuneMate is sustainable, the amount of excess funds isn't enough to justify the amount of time invested by three developers after four years (at least 10,000 hours), although the additional income from supporters has made it so that we can invest time researching new technologies to apply to RuneMate.

I look for opportunities to apply my skillset (aka, contracted freelance work) and spend time with my significant other, I'm also an anime fan when I have truly free time but that's rare. I'm always busy with one project or another as I look at it as an investment towards my future. I work for short periods of time in many places. I live in the eastern timezone. I can't even give a rough estimate of the time invested, thousands of hours though.

It's future is in safe hands. You'll be seeing vastly improved stability and performance due to recent discoveries, relating to anything and everything. Payment system's aren't my domain so I can't speak on that.
