A friend wants to learn how to use RuneMate, if i take my laptop and meet him at a local coffee shop, and show him the run down. will us both using RuneMate on the same connection drain my hours as well?

I don't think the connection matters, only if he's using the same account.

well i know there was a problem a few months ago with someone and his room-mate using the same connection and it drained his hours. wasn't sure if this would be a similar situation or not.

Botting in the same IP range will result in hours getting added up for both accounts, so yeah, connection matters.
