I'm sure it will happen eventually, as I believe Jagex are discontinuing the Java client in the future.

not with the current client, runemate is java based atm and NXT is C something based.
runemate would need to be rewritten to work with NXT

The only thing that'd need to be rewritten is the hook to the new client and an API adaption, not the entire spectre client.
