I have been using a bot for the past couple of days and my account had 1.5million gold on it which for me is a lot and all of a sudden I logged on today after having the bot running yesterday and all my items in my inventory are gone and all the gold from my bank is gone. Nothing else was taken just what was in my inventory and all my gold. The bot was able to login for me when It logged off for breaks but I am certain I turned the bot off before I got off my computer. My password hasn't been changed and I have no emails saying that another device/computer has logged onto my account so I don't think my account was hacked. Im not sure if either the bot has managed to drop all my gold or if somebody got access to my account through the bot but if somebody could just try to explain why this happened I would appreciate it. I would also like to know if anybody else has had this happen. Cheers

Sorry to hear that you were hacked, but I can assure you it wasn't due to RuneMate or Bot Authors.

I am posting below the same information I do every time this topic comes up to help clarify the situation:

  • Are you sure you haven't used an easy to guess username/password combination?
  • Or that you're using a combination that has been leaked from an external database breach?
  • Or you downloaded a gold generator or similar program?
  • Clicked on any suspicious URLs?
  • Fallen for any "double xp weekend!!!" or "Sparc Mac quitting!!!" streams on Twitch?
  • Clicked on any RuneScape ads on Facebook promising free gold, bonds or membership?

There is NO way RuneMate would hack you for your gold/items. We would not risk our entire reputation over the small amount of gold/items any user would have.

Bot Authors do not have access to your username or password. The only person who does is YOU.

There have been many accusations of this over the years and almost every single time without fail the user has later determined the fault occurred elsewhere.

Individual bots do not have access to credentials of any sort. In addition, every line of every version of every bot is reviewed by a proprietary scanner for malicious code and manually by a Staff member.

Regarding your computer, I suggest running a scan using Windows Defender and Malware Bytes and taking any recommended actions.

To summarise and make it extremely clear, RuneMate did not hack you and steal your items.

Cheers for the help. I'm certain I have not clicked anything and hence don't think it was due to a fake ad or anything similar. I didn't have the best password/username combination and have now changed it and implemented an authenticator so hopefully I wont have any more problems. Thanks for the help!
