NMZ uses bosses from quests that you've completed. Do whatever quests for the bosses you want. I recommend ones that are melee only. Next, do a couple of rounds manually that way the bot can use your points and buy its required mats automatically and not need you anymore. For fastest Xp/hr we've found using a full DH set with low HP gets you the most but in my experience you only want the bot to use DH and you can use whatever gear you want to get the starting points you need.

I know @Party has a thread for his NMZ Lite and unlimited editions where other users share their experiences and setups and there's additional details there if I'm missing anything. Party is also a very communicative developer so if you run into problems posting in those threads is likely to get a response from the one and only.
