@Bertrand if you were educated in the Middle East under a status quo consisting of threat and oppression from terrorist groups and the government, would you respect it?
That implies that most in the Middle East don't know any better and actually respect their government. The only people I know who grew up in the Middle East are my friends' parents, who are thankful for their opportunity to escape the region. Not sure how many of their peers think the same way.
It depends where they grew up on what they believe in and if you're raised by terrorists, you're going to grow up with bombings. When you're older you take bombings as a normal part of the day. That's why I would respect the status quo, if they do exactly what I grew up with.
I was getting more at "raised by people bombed by terrorists" rather than "raised by terrorists." When you're constantly bombed, you do take bombings as a normal part of the day. But that doesn't mean it's not extremely scary and heart-thumping. I think most are aware that it's not like this in other parts of the world.
